School to Engage Toddlers
The concept
of play school is catching up in India and many parents are concerned about how
play schools can impact the future of their children. Around 10-20 children in
different age groups of 1-3 years come together and spend 1 hour to 2 hours
every day under the guidance of one or more teachers who engage these toddlers.
The rationale behind sending your child to a playschool should not be only
towards developing reading and writing skills. The play schools have a lot to
offer in terms of social development of the toddler and an opportunity for them
to socialize with the rest of the kids. In the play schools, the teachers focus
on teaching the toddlers age-appropriate behavior. This is in the form of
observation and imitation. Kids learn the best by observing and the age group
of 1-2 years is very tender and easy to mold them. For example, some play
schools teach potty training for the toddlers. Being at home, the children
cannot learn this at an optimum level. This is where the play schools play
a crucial role.

There are
immense benefits of a playschool. At home, the parents will shower the kids
with toys to engage them. However at the playschools, the kids are showered
with the right toys that help in their overall development. Hence the play

self-help skills. The language skills of the children are also bound to improve
as they start interacting with other kids in their playschool. It provides them
an environment to share and care. Besides, as the toddlers are away from home
for a few hours, it teaches them the art of being independent. The nursery
rhymes that are being taught in the play school help them to relate easily and
sing along when the rhymes are being played at home.
There are
always the two sides of a coin. While some parents feel that the playschools
aid a lot in the development of their kids, some feel it is just a waste of
money and time to send the kids to the playschools as the children will anyways
learn all that is being thought in the playschool at some point of the time or
other. Parents must take efforts to enroll their kids in the right play school
that helps them in their overall development.
